My 2011 Q1 Update & Top 5 Tips to Win in Q2

Since the first quarter of this year, I’ve been in what seems to be a never-ending process of developing and refining what I call my Championship Mentality Game Plan. As an entrepreneur or anyone who is seriously committed to playing their game of life full out, not having a plan is the best way to ensure failure. So selfevaluation and being committed to the Japanese principle of Kaizen, the process of continuous self improvement, is what it’s all about for me in the first quarter. To effectively do this in both our personal and professional lives, we must ask and attempt to answer the following questions for ourselves:

1. Who I am I really?
2. What’s truly important to me?
3. Where am I going?
4. How I am getting there?
5. How am I playing my game called life?
6. Why am I playing it this way?
7. And finally, is it working for me?

I can’t say that I have satisfactorily answered and addressed all of these questions for myself, but I can tell you that just asking these questions has been life altering for me in many ways.  So I wanted to share with you my top 5 things that we should be doing to create change and increase our ability to play and win in the game of life in the 2^nd quarter of 2011.

1.     Review the game plan, goals, intentions and intended outcomes that you should have created in the first quarter of 2011. If you did not create any, then I suggest that you create a plan RIGHT NOW and set some goals and intentions to effectively play and win in the 2^ndquarter.

2.     Plan your work and work your plan. Upon reviewing your plans and goals from the first quarter you might notice two things. Either you are doing everything that you said you were going to do - and if so, I congratulate you and would ask you to consider taking on more challenging goals that will have you stretch yourself beyond who you might know yourself to be and might cause you to reassess what’s possible for your life in terms of what you might be able to achieve this year. The second thing that you might notice is that some of your goals are not being met. Here I would say don’t worry about what you have not done, just recommit and make sure that you are planning and taking constant action around your goals each day.

3.     Focus on the opportunities and not the challenges.  These are indeed challenging times, but in the midst of the challenges in our personal and professional lives, I invite you to consider that there just might be even greater opportunities for us to leverage if we are willing to do the work of discovering what those opportunities might be.

4.     If how you are playing your game of life is not working, change your style of play and make the commitment to becoming a better player in YOUR GAME, no matter what!

5.     Finally, ask yourself and answer the seven questions above and see what you come up with for your self

How Can We Win a Championship Together In These Turbulent Times?
